Home Care Questions, Answered
Learn about non-medical care, payment, scheduling, and getting started with Premier Home Care.
Understanding care
What is personal care?
Personal care is non-medical assistance with everyday activities such as bathing, grooming, dressing, toileting, and mobility. We discuss which tasks your loved one needs help with and identify appropriate support in an individualized care plan.
How do I know when my loved one needs help at home?
A conversation about support may be helpful when everyday routines become difficult—for example, getting dressed, preparing meals, keeping up with light household tasks, or spending long periods alone. Ask your loved one what feels challenging and which activities they want to keep doing independently. A care consultation helps you discuss possible non-medical assistance.
What is the difference between home care and home health?
Home care provides non-medical help with daily living, such as personal care, companionship, and meal preparation. Home health involves clinical services such as skilled nursing or therapy. Premier Home Care provides non-medical personal care; we do not offer skilled nursing or therapy services.
Coverage & payment
What areas do you serve?
Premier serves Danville and approved areas of Pittsylvania County, Virginia. Contact us with your city and ZIP code so we can confirm coverage and scheduling availability for your location.
Do you accept Medicaid?
Premier Home Care currently welcomes private-pay clients and does not currently accept Medicaid. During your consultation, we can discuss your loved one’s needs, scheduling options, and personalized pricing.
Is Premier Home Care licensed?
Yes. Premier Home Care, LLC is a Virginia-licensed home care organization providing non-medical personal care.
How much does care cost?
Cost depends on the number of hours, frequency of visits, level of assistance, requested schedule, and individualized care needs. Contact us for a free care consultation to discuss the services and schedule you are considering and pricing specific to your request.
Schedules & getting started
How quickly can services begin?
The start date depends on your location, assistance needs, assessment and care planning, and caregiver availability. Tell us when help is needed; we will review your request and discuss a possible start date before confirming services.
Is there a minimum number of hours?
Contact Premier to confirm any minimum visit length or scheduling requirements that apply to your request. Share the days, times, and number of hours you are considering so we can discuss a suitable arrangement.
Can schedules change?
If your needs or preferred schedule change, contact Premier to discuss an adjustment. Changes need to be reviewed and confirmed based on the care plan and caregiver availability. Ask about notice requirements when arranging services.
Do you provide overnight or weekend care?
Tell us if you are seeking overnight or weekend support. These schedules must be reviewed for your location, care needs, and caregiver availability; they are not automatically available. We will confirm whether we can accommodate the requested hours before arranging services.
How do I get started?
Call (434) 423-6998 or submit a care request online. We begin with a free care consultation to discuss needs, schedules, preferences, and questions. Next, we develop an individualized care plan and coordinate an appropriate caregiver and start date when needs and availability align.
Caregivers & coordination
Can we choose our caregiver?
Share your loved one’s preferences during the consultation. Ask Premier how caregiver assignments are coordinated and whether a preferred caregiver can be considered. A specific caregiver cannot be guaranteed without confirming the assignment and availability.
How are caregivers screened?
Premier’s personnel policies require criminal-record review, sworn-disclosure documentation, qualification verification, orientation, and task-specific competency before independent assignment. Employment, references, and credentials are verified where applicable. Ask how these requirements apply to the caregiver being considered for your loved one.
What happens if our regular caregiver is unavailable?
Contact Premier to discuss the affected visit. Ask about the absence and communication process when arranging care, including how any replacement would be coordinated. Replacement coverage depends on an appropriate caregiver being available; it is not guaranteed.
