The names sound similar, but home care and home health describe different kinds of support. Knowing which help you need makes it easier to ask the right questions.
Home care: help with daily living
Non-medical home care can include bathing and dressing assistance, companionship, meal preparation, light housekeeping, and respite. The tasks are identified in the individual care plan.
Home health: clinical services
Home health involves healthcare services such as skilled nursing, wound care, or therapy. Clinical needs and payment arrangements should be discussed with the healthcare team and the relevant provider.
Where Premier fits
Premier Home Care provides non-medical personal care. Registered nurse assessment and supervision support our personal care services; they do not mean Premier offers skilled nursing visits or therapy. Premier currently welcomes private-pay clients.
A Starting Checklist
- List daily tasks separately from clinical needs.
- Ask each agency which services it actually provides.
- Confirm payment arrangements with the provider.
- Discuss coordination if more than one provider is involved.
